Bet365 refused to pay Miss McCann due to a ”flagrant breach” of the terms and conditions as they are convinced that the stake from the original bet was provided by a third-party.
Bet365 issue counter-claim of ”fraud and cheating” by Miss McCann
It was noted that Bet365 responded immediately to the win and noticed a number of irregularities that led them to believe this was foul-play.
Miss McCann is believed to be vehemently denying the allegations and is insisting on full payment of her winnings which total £985,000.
The successful bet placed was a lucky 15 with £25,000 staked across 12 different horse races.
It was reported that following the win, Miss McCann was contacted by Bet365 to ask her several questions before congratulating her on her win.
Shortly after this conversation, the Bet365 account in question was closed and the winnings were never paid.
Fraud and deception are very serious offenses, and many will argue that Bet365 has only responded in a professional and diligent manner.
Other famous high-court betting battles
The story of Miss McCann and her battle with Bet365 is reminiscent of previous disputes that have made the news.
Most horse racing fans will remember the story of the Irish racehorse trainer, Barney Curley.
He famously won an astonishing £3.9m on an accumulator bet and was then initially refused a payout on his winnings.
There have also been several other notable cases where the general public has had issues with payments that haven’t made the news.
It is clearly evident that gambling companies such as Bet365, and others, take fraud and third-party breaches very seriously.
